Art & Language proposes a scathing answer to what they see as a deliberately misinformed and vicious attack by a critic, Rosalind Krauss, who misreads not only their work but also their intentions and professional relations in favour of her own personal agenda.

The name Art & Language was first adopted in 1968, to refer to a collaborative practice that had developed over the previous two years between Michael Baldwin and Terry Atkinson, in association with David Bainbridge and Harold Hurrell. In 1970 Ian Burn and Mel Ramsden merged their separate collaboration with Art & Language. The journal "Art-Language" was first published in May 1969 and a second journal "The Fox was published in New York in 1975-6. From 1976 the genealogical thread of Art & Language's artistic work was taken solely into the hands of Baldwin and Ramsden, with the theoretical and critical collaboration of these two with Charles Harrison.

White Wine Press is a series of texts, one hundred being the goal, as an open project that seeks to wander a world. We are looking simply for those voices that have an urgency of saying. The artists are free to write about any subject, preferably about something outside the overwhelmingly present frames of their own work, or at least to come at the same in tangential fashion. In other words: state an interest.

The texts will be published in the original language and in an English translation. If the texts are written in English, they will be accompanied by a Spanish translation and thus cover two large linguistic areas. Our basic animal condition, as Charles Olson put it, is move/meant. We are now in movement and thank the artists for providing state/meant. There is no story that is not true.
